Welcome to The Texas Skin Cancer Awareness Society.
I’m Jessica. I started this site for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I am a stage 3 malignant melanoma survivor. The second reason I started this page is because dealing with my diagnosis, having treatments, and seeing doctors has been a struggle. I am an uninsured, 27 year old single mother. They don’t make things like this easy for people like me. I know there are a lot of people out there dealing with something similar, and I want to help anyone I can, in any way that I can.
I’ve been through so many hoops that I’m starting to feel like I’m in the circus. I’ve been fired from doctors because of the inability to pay, I’ve spent countless hours on the phone (mostly on hold) trying to get answers/a doctors appointment/a scan, you name it, I’ve done it.
I want to compile a site of information on all types of skin cancer, preventative care, and resources for everyone, not just the insured. I want to help other people in Texas because I wish there had been someone to help me.
